Description:

nouveKDEGray is a gray KDE icon set designed for use ONLY with sufficiently dark color schemes. With dark styles, it can change the look and feel of KDE considerably. It also includes a lot of extra places icons, that can be used to distinguish special folders.

Note:

Some nonnative apps do not respect the icon theme specification and may not select their icons from the theme. Apart from such cases, if you have installed a KDE or Qt app (or any desktop-agnostic app) whose icon is not included in the set, please tell me!

I update this page whenever needed but without announcing an update. The latest date is in the ChangeLog section below.

I made it that way for it to get more attention and for users not to click on it incidentally. An instance of the priority of usage over appearance!

Can you add ome more specific mimetypes.
ex: multimedia icons.

The set already has more than 410 mimetype icons for each size, while Oxygen has less than 270. Please give me the names of mimetypes you didn't find in the set and want to be added to it!

I didn't find some type differentiations practical as they wouldn't add to usability but just make the set heavier. For example, it's good to differentiate between SVG and PNG (as the set does) but not necessarily between PNG and JPG. After all, Dolphin and most advanced file managers show those details clearly.

The same could be said about audio and video, although there are about 7 different icons for the most common audio types and 6 for videos. But, for example, I didn't find any benefit in making two different icons for ASF and AVI, which are both Windows types.

Apps have a different story. I'll add the Curlew icon(s). Please also tell me about any other app whose icon you didn't find in the set, provided that its use is meaningful under KDE or any other Qt-based DE.

I just started up LO and realised how ugly the icons are (I don't know if these are the stock ones?). They do not fit at all into the overall desktop style based on your nice icons! Is there a package with LO icons which match the KDE ones?

Today I installed libreoffice-style-hicontrast and chose it from Tools > Options > View > Icon size and style. High Contrast is the most acceptable set I could find. Its icons can be seen clearly with dark color schemes.

I just found out that a LibreOffice theme consists of thousands of icons! So, making such a theme would consist in a full project, for which I have neither time nor motive (the result would be only usable with LO, after all).

Please tell me if you find an LO set more compatible with nouveKDEGray. I tolerate the current theme (Oxygen) until I find a sort of workaround.

If you mean LibreOffice interface icons like Open, Save, Redo..., I agree: they aren't lovely ;) LO interface icons aren't selected from the theme. I'll try to include a separate LibreOffice theme with the next update. Thanks for reminding me!

Hi, I find a problem with stars ratings of files.

In this image I'm is using the default Oxygen icon theme

and this one with your theme

I click the stars and they don't change, with others themes they turn yellow

The problem should be fixed now. Please recreate the icon cache after updating (as is explained in INSTALL).

Ready, It works properly now.

Just out of curiosity, was yellow the star icon for Kickoff favorites section too? including Lancelot, bookmark plasmoid and "Get More" buttons. I don't know if this was intended or if you will fix that but they will still like me with either of both colors.

Another Issue: The bookmarks plasmoid has the yellow star at small sizes and the white one at bigger sizes.

I think I'm being annoying but I want only to help for possible issues:)

And thanks for the icons of Qbittorrent and Muon package manager. Sorry if my english isn't good enough, I don't like write long sentences because sometimes I kill the english language with my grammar.

Now everything should be OK: I colored just the rating stars; the bookmark and favorites icons are all back to gray :) The set is updated at dA.

Hmm I wasn't expecting this fix so fast, all look OK now.

I really like this theme, no missing icons for now, perfect for my dark theme, simple and clean.
