Made by paulxfce

For all you working from home:

Working all day behind a glaring screen, you learn to appreciate a desktop environment that is pleasing-to-the-eyes, keeps you focused on your job, is solid and reliable. This is where Wrk-PRO comes in: a theme with no bells and whistles, with support for GTK-3,GTK-2 and dark-mode. A theme meant for those who use the Gnome-desktop professionally on a daily basis.

IMPORTANT:

This theme is developed for the gnome DE. It works on GTK3.22/3.32/3.34/3.36/3.38.

How to install:

Download the theme,

> Wrk-PRO-Blue / Wrk-Blue-Dark
> Wrk-PRO-Steel-Blue / Wrk-PRO-Steel-blue-Dark
> Wrk-PRO-Teal / Wrk-PRO-Teal-Dark
> Wrk-PRO-Manjaro-Green / Wrk-PRO-Manjaro-Green-Dark
> Wrk-PRO-Yellow / Wrk-PRO-Yellow-Dark
> Wrk-PRO-Orange / Wrk-PRO-Orange-Dark
> Wrk-PRO-Red / Wrk-PRO-Red-Dark
> Wrk-PRO-Purple / Wrk-PRO-Purple-Dark

Just copy the extracted file to a '.themes'-folder you make in your home directory.
Then use Tweak Tool and select the theme.
LOG OUT AND BACK IN for changes to take full effect !

10 Dear Paul,

Thanks for the theme!

I'm using the Steel Blue variation and, when using Nautilus with the Icon-List option, the Icon and Text do not look vertically centralized... When the row is Focused, a little extra padding on the bottom is visible... idk if its intentional, just letting you know.

Keep up the great work!
Best regards!

Yes, it is intentional. To have a rounded bottom radius, in the list-view, it was necessary to add some padding at the bottom of the window.

Really love this theme except for some reason the top window buttons decrease in size when the window is unfocused. I'm using the dark variant and whenever i select another window, the title bar buttons decrease in size.

Is this a bug?Looks kind of strange.

Actually. You know what I like it! Forget what I said.

It is because the backdrop- title buttons have an inner-shadow. In the dark theme this makes them look smaller.

Ah I see, well after using it, it looks good.
Also I was just wondering if i could somehow change the window icons or am i unable to as its now a binary file. I like to add an extra 'light' button for when they are pressed like this : https://imgur.com/GToFG2Z (The mouse disappeared from my screenshot)

I've been suing this theme everyday since v1.3. Thank you for your work, I really love it. Would it be too much trouble too create an alternate version with the standard buttons of v1.3?

The gtk2 backport is still missing as of 1.5 (tried Steel Blue and Purple). Looks like it's being thought about on in https://gitlab.com/paullinux/gtk-theme-assembly-project though. Is this due to become a scripted build?

Report

True, but gtk2 required a lot of manual adaptation especially with the graphics. With 8 color-variants it becomes a tedious job.. with gtk4 around the corner and the subsequent fase out of gtk2, you will eventually look for alternatives.

The gtk2 colors are still used by Firefox, and QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=gtk2 ("QGtkStyle") is still important if you want Qt5 apps to closely match the chosen GTK(2) theme.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Uniform_look_for_Qt_and_GTK_applications#Theme_engines
(Unfortunately QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=gnome ("QGnomePlatform"), supposedly the modern way of working and the default, doesn't adopt the gtk3 colors. Just the decorations and fonts; for me it doesn't even support Adwaita-dark)

Perhaps these projects will eventually support gtk3 or gtk4, but that hasn't happened for years.

Can some of the rebuild tedium be scripted away? I really wish you the best of luck! Your themes are always just so darned nice looking, so I hope you find a workflow that automates some (all) of the maintenance horrors :)

9 excellent. I never thought I'd leave Prof-Gnome, I've loved that theme for a while, but this one tops it, I think. Nobody can put themes together like paulxfce. His worst GTK3 is better than most.

[GTK+ 3.24.24, Wrk-PRO 1.2 (published 2020-12-25)] Keyboard nav is visible again! Thank you so much! Just some minor things: - it could do with a little more contrast for listview/iconview/textview backgrounds away from the base grey. To me it's the neutral grey that's a smidge too bright ;) - same thing between buttons and neutral base grey The hot-cold gradients for slider fills are fun :)

Your theme is not completely flat, with slightly raised buttons. Everything is in subtlety, as you can do. I like it.
product-maker dalisllama Dec 17 2020 10 the best
Very sharp and clean. Looks like the true successor to Pro-Gnome. Taskbar buttons seem to match their general proportions seen elsewhere in theme. I prefer these Adwaita-style window buttons, especially in default layout with single close button, my personal pref. One small criticism: StackSwitcher buttons in headerbar, as seen in "About" dialogs, do not clearly differenciate between active and inactive state.
