This is where Wrk-PRO comes in: a theme with no bells and whistles, with support for GTK-3,GTK-2 and dark-mode. A theme meant for those who use the Gnome-desktop professionally on a daily basis.

IMPORTANT:

This theme is developed for the gnome DE. It works on GTK3.22/3.32/3.34/3.36/3.38.

> Wrk-PRO-Manjaro-Green / Wrk-PRO-Manjaro-Green-Dark

Good news, thanks Paul!
Adding XFCE support would be great too! :)
I understand you've been waiting for XFCE 4.16 to reach Manjaro.

Just discovered this theme and am saddened to learn that it will no longer be updated. In my opinion, this is exactly what Adwaita should have been! Pleasing on the eyes, nicely contoured and beautiful, all while keeping free of distractions, staying out of the users way, and not using oversized interface elements.

paulxfce, I've been on gnome-look (and the other *-look sites) for a long time but never registered an account before now. I understand if you lost your motivation to continue updating this theme but I implore you not to let negative comments get you down. Your work is amazing and I will be checking out more of your work in the future!

Hey, guys, what are you doing? What did you say ?
Criticisms are good to take, as long as they are constructive !
Paulxfce is our master, for all of us ! And I know what I'm talking about !
His knowledge of Gnome theming is endless.
He spends a lot of time on each of his themes to make it better than the last.
Making a theme isn't just about changing colors. It goes much further ! There are bord effects that you have to know how to manage, there are unforeseen behaviors that you have to resolve, ...
However, he is like you, human. And nothing is perfect in this world !
In addition, he does what he wants with his themes, because he decides their philosophy. If he thinks a suggestion is inappropriate, he will say so. If he doesn't, you can gently ask him why, and he will respond. You still need to hear and listen to him, and respect his decisions.
What I'm saying applies to all of us, those who code the themes, knowing that no help comes from the Gnome team, who consider creating themes is hack.
Also, respecting the work of others must be the watchword here.

Sad to see this be the final update. Thank you very much for your wonderful work. Elegant and functional grey themes are hard to come by in this era of flat and brightly colored design.

Best to try no to get too affected by asinine, ungrateful feedback. It's true that one sometimes needs to grow a thick skin with online dealings.

Wishing you the best in your future projects, and a happy new year.

8 [GTK+ 3.24.24, Wrk-PRO 1.2 (published 2020-12-25)]

Keyboard nav is visible again! Thank you so much!

Just some minor things:

- it could do with a little more contrast for listview/iconview/textview backgrounds away from the base grey. To me it's the neutral grey that's a smidge too bright ;)

- same thing between buttons and neutral base grey

The hot-cold gradients for slider fills are fun :)

I have to admit, I just don't much like "button style" tabs for ordinary GtkNotebooks. You've explained your reasoning before, but it just doesn't feel quite right yet (super personal opinion, and this is such a minor thing). Perhaps the "buttons" feel a bit slim vertically? Perhaps it's that tabs can be of non-homogeneous width, so the "buttons" all have different widths? I dunno.

Well, version 1.3 is the final release. Since no one is waiting for yet another grey theme from me, I give up.

Glad you are still making themes, sad that you are still ignoring xfce. Sorry but more Grey-White variation ? There are so many and not funny anymore. Have you consider "pastel" colours for a change ? I saw Elementary 6 and finally they are looking much nicer and eyes pleasing.

I've made Desert and Forest-Dawn. Isn't that color enough? This theme, if you care to read the description, is meant to be dull, blunt, easy on the eyes. A theme that is there, but do not notice. So, yes dull grey it is.

Isn't this a clone of "prof-gnome-theme" ? Beside you have multiple grey/white variations ; ice-theme, prof-gnome-theme, cameo-osx, mcos-themes, mcos-mjv-gnome-3.30, Enso-gnome etc..I count 38 gnome themes vs 8 xfce. Should'nt you be called paulgnone ? ;-)
That said I use your xfce themes on all my machines. You are the best designer here. I wish we'll see more variety then the MAC theme clones or the current obscene dark-darker-black-full-night-black-hole themes. Happy New Year !! Please experiment with colors for 2021. Thanks !

Version 1.3 is a final version. I will no longer work at this theme, since people apparently complain about yet another grey theme, or do not like it, when things are not as they are supposed to be. This theme ( because of compatibility) is full of additional compromises that it no longer represents the original concept. And frankly no one seems interested.

FWIW, with the XFCE DE, I end up using metacity as the window manager, so the window decorations are taken from the GTK3 code, so it's not an issue at all for me that XFCE is not fully supported.

Good, just need a distro that ships this 4.16 and a gtk.css file with the new code. I was hoping that there would be no xfwm4- window- decorator. But it seems not to be the case. I really hate the old style xfwm4- theming.

I'll wait for manjaro to update. Still, I am disappointed that XFCE 4.16 still uses a really outdated windowmanager, that still requires thick borders for a decent resize-grip-area. A real bummer... Still, let's hope that something has been done about it.

Unchecked checkboxes are almost invisible, it that a bug?
Same thing with 1.2.
1.2 identifies as Wrk-Pro1.2 instead of Wrk-Pro-1.2. (not a big deal)

Well, the checkboxes on menus and such are deliberately 'light'. If it was up to me, I would do away with the background entirely. But that would be a problem, certainly with the radio-buttons. So this is sort of a compromise. I would have hoped for users to understand this.

Dear Paul, Thanks for the theme! I'm using the Steel Blue variation and, when using Nautilus with the Icon-List option, the Icon and Text do not look vertically centralized... When the row is Focused, a little extra padding on the bottom is visible... idk if its intentional, just letting you know. Keep up the great work! Best regards!

Your theme is not completely flat, with slightly raised buttons. Everything is in subtlety, as you can do. I like it.
product-maker dalisllama Dec 17 2020 10 the best
Very sharp and clean. Looks like the true successor to Pro-Gnome. Taskbar buttons seem to match their general proportions seen elsewhere in theme. I prefer these Adwaita-style window buttons, especially in default layout with single close button, my personal pref. One small criticism: StackSwitcher buttons in headerbar, as seen in "About" dialogs, do not clearly differenciate between active and inactive state.
